What I Paint With

Paint

90% of the paints I use are Mijello Mission Gold. I also have a few Holbein, Schminke and Windsor & Newton paints. I adore the Mission Gold paints, especially for BRIGHT clear colours. I recommend getting the ‘best’ paints you can- an ‘artist quality’ set if you can, or a ‘student’ set of a reputable brand. They tubes and pans look so small, but they really do last for ages.

Paper

I started out painted in woodpulp paper, but have moved to cotton rag. I favour 300gsm Rough press. My preferred brand is Art Spectrum.

Brushes and other bits

I use a range, though I generally do prefer sable brushes. My workhorses are size 0,2, and 6.

To add penwork, I use UniPin fineliners (They’re SUPER waterproof!). I sketch with a cheap mechanical pencil and I highly recommend a putty eraser cor clearing up lines without damaging your surface.
